Everybody’s speculating. Here’s the actual answer.
Hey y’all,
We are properly in the thick of YGT week out at Rams Hill, and it is brutally hot, in the middle of absolute nowhere, and I am having a great time.
Y’all have been asking why we changed venue. I’m going to give you the real answer, no spin. Plus the four guys I’d watch this week, a broadcast idea I actually want more of, and a starter at Troon who could not have cared less who we were.

The real reason we changed venue
Everyone’s speculating, so here is the actual answer: logistics.

There is a lot that goes into pulling off a tour with 20 players and 50 production staff. You need courses that will give you the place to yourselves for half days, minimum. The PGA Tour has already planned its 2028 season. That is two to three years out. We built this tour a few months ago. We are working two to three months out.

So things come up that are not perfect and we have to make them fly. This was one of those. We are trying to run a golf tour on YouTube and nobody has done this before.

Which is why I’m glad it landed here. The staff are amazing, the course is beautiful and it is fun. It is in the middle of absolute nowhere and it is brutally hot this time of year. They welcomed us with open arms and made it work on a stupidly tight schedule. I cannot sing their praises enough.

02The broadcast
 
Zero announcers. More of that, please.
The PGA Tour tested an alternate feed with no commentary. Just player and caddie audio.
I like it as an alternate feed. Just being able to watch golf, no commentators, and you get the conversations caddies and players actually have.

People loved the (semi-allowed) Mic’d Up video me and Wes did on tour a while back, because you got to watch a guy play the PGA Tour and hear what he’s thinking before and after shots.

Now put that on the better players. You see how different everyone’s process is, and at the same time how similar it is. You start to see why the great players play great.

03Stop 2 · who to watch
 
All eyes are on Chance
Four names worth following at Rams Hill this week.
Chance Taylor
He was the star of the first one. Can he keep playing well, and keep being fun and likeable and all those things?
Micah Morris
Bigger microscope on him this time. The internet has given him a hard time the last two years, and then he backed it up at Pursell. Can he do it again here?
Brad Dalke
He struggled at his PGA Tour start and played awful. Bouncing back from that is its own storyline.
Sean Walsh
Sean versus Wesley. That one needs no introduction.
04Roadtrip
 
“You know he’s won on the PGA Tour, right?”
From the latest UK roadtrip episode. Royal Troon.
Troon is one of my favourite courses I have ever played. Pure links. Fun, hard, and the back nine is an absolute monster … especially with a bit of wind and rain in it. You walk into these places and you feel the history.

But the bit that stuck with me was the starter. Over there you have to ask permission to play the back tees. We walk up and he is not budging. (manager) Joe goes, “you know he’s won on the PGA Tour, right?” And he goes: “Yeah, I don’t care.”

Not rude. Not mean. Strictly business, and somehow hilarious with it.

And then the Postage Stamp. Standing on that tee a little nervous, hit it to five feet right of the pin and made par. Wes hit it to two. One of those memories.

Structure at the top 👀
This week Pelli helps Kyle stop pulling on the shaft.
The problem: runoff at the top
  • Really good shape in the early takeaway
  • But the club runs at the top, so there’s no structure
  • That means a pull down and a steep move in transition… which wrecks strike and curve
The fix: the band drill
  • Tie resistance tubing to the club at its balance point
  • Loop the other end over your head and under your arm to create a tension point
  • Keep the band in tension going back and the club can’t collapse at the top
It’ll teach you how to support that club.
