Bryan Bros Collegiate
I would be a bottom-tier talent out there 👀
Fifteen years after we played college golf, our names are on our alma mater’s home tournament.
Hey y’all,
We just hosted the Bryan Bros Collegiate at Solina for the second year. Who impressed me, what these college kids can do better than me and Wes, and what hosting it actually involves.
Plus alt shot with my brother, which gets volatile, and the part of my game that is bugging me heading into the offseason.

01The winner

Nine under at Solina is excellent
Shout out to the kid from Liberty.
The one who impressed me most was the kid who won. Austin Krahn from Liberty shot nine under over three days at Solina, and in the conditions out there that is really, really good. A few of those guys got to seven, eight, nine under, and it was set up tough.

The greens were running about twelve to thirteen. If you got short-sided, you were making bogey more often than not. To win out there you have to be mentally on your game, be on the correct side of the holes, and put yourself in position to two-putt or get up and down.

Three days of solid mental game, executing shots and making putts. Nine under is excellent. Shout out to him.
02The gap

I would be a bottom-tier physical talent in that field
They hit it so far, so straight. It is sickening.
For the most part, the guys at the top end hit it so far and so straight, with great golf swings. You have 180 ball speed and you think, yeah, that is short. There were kids there at 185, 190, and they hit it pretty straight. They drive it better than me and Wes.

Can they control it as often as me? No. Is their short game, their mental game or their course management as good as mine? Probably not. But physically they are way more talented. Where Wes still has them is his short game and that killer instinct. Most of the kids in that field do not have that yet. They are young.

So if I played, would I win? Probably not. And as well as I know Solina, I should, sure. But if I played well, I think I could finish top ten. The talent is there at the college level.

Alt shot with Wes is volatile
Very entertaining to watch. Not our best format as brothers.
How would me and Wesley handle alternate shot? Honestly, it is pretty terrible. It is violent. Or, not violent. It is volatile.

I blame him. He gets mad at me for getting mad at him, and it is just a circle of negativity. Very entertaining to watch, but it is not our best format.

It is a lot of fun, though. It makes good content, and it is hard, so it is fun to see if we can mentally overcome a tough format and shoot an under-par round. But alt shot with me and him right now? It can get dicey.

04My game

Lots of average shots, and my misses are not that bad
The injury took a little driver pop. It also made me straighter.
The most frustrating part right now is distance. I have lost a little pop off the driver from the injury. A little muscle, a little swing speed, and it is a little sad. But I am hitting it straighter, and I feel like I am playing the game a little better.

The simplest way to put it: I am hitting a lot of average to below-average shots, and my bad shots are really not that bad. There is no shot I stand over thinking, I am going to knock this tight, or I love this yardage. It is routine, make a swing, and it is pretty good. It is okay. It is fine. That still lets me shoot good numbers, because when the misses are not bad and I make some putts, I can go low.

The other one is wedges. Too many times inside 120 yards I am hoping for a good result instead of standing there confident that this is my sand wedge and this is my number. That is the offseason project. Get sharper with my wedges so I am confident when one is in my hand.
Behind Solina
Our names on our old school’s tournament
Honestly, we are the face of it. Other people do the heavy lifting.
We support it and we help with some ideas, but the South Carolina coaches and the team at Solina actually plan the tournament. We have helped with things like the prizes, the course and the signage, but we have left it in their hands, and they have done a phenomenal job.

Me and Wesley were telling some of the South Carolina people: fifteen years after we played in college, we are standing here hosting our alma mater’s home tournament with our names attached to it. That is really cool.

Everyone who has played it the last couple of years, the parents, the players, the coaches, says it is a great event, thanks so much. And I am like, was it though? Or are you just saying that to be nice? But everyone has loved it, which is why we do it.

We want these kids to have a great experience and play a fun golf course. We have done that for two years now, and it is honestly very rewarding.

One of the greatest Bryan Bros moments goes live next week
Collab week with Bob and Grant has started.
Funniest thing this week? I will let the videos do the talking. The first of our videos with Bob and Grant went up this week, and the rest go live on our channel next week. You will see plenty of funny things on camera.

One of the greatest Bryan Bros moments ever happens in the second video. Three videos, all of us, one week. It is amazing.
Who is behind this one
A week like this one runs on sleep, and Engineered Sleep have been a big part of our year. They are out of South Carolina, and the $100,000 series we have been running with them carries on right through to the end of the year.

That is the week.
College kids with more ball speed than me, alt shot with my brother, and an offseason date with my wedges.

P.S. 👀 Who would you pick as your alt shot partner? Hit reply and tell me. I would rather hear it from y’all than guess.
