His team rang (manager) Joe. We said yes very quickly A lot of you asked how this one came together. It is not a complicated story. Bryson’s team reached out to (manager) Joe, and the pitch to me and Wesley was basically backyard golf. A content play at his house that he wanted us in on. What sold it was having seen the stuff he was doing over his house last year. I thought, if this is the long-form version of that, it is going to be a blast. And honestly, me and Wes grew up doing exactly this. Short game contests at all hours, on the greens my dad put in at his golf academy. All times, all hours. Then we got there and the concept was even more fun than we had realised. Some of the shots we hit at that house were really cool. |
This is only tournament three The golf is one thing. The bit that has changed most is everything around it. The vibes at the latest one were incredible. We are there to compete and win, but we are also there to make something people enjoy watching. And the filming, the producing, all the behind the scenes has got so much smoother. We have still got a long way to go. We turn up and go, right, how on earth do we pull this off. Then (manager) Joe and Josh, and Sky, Carney, Cam and Jalen from production, just get it done. And this is only tournament three. That is the bit that gets me excited. It is only going to get better from here. |
The hardest four par threes I have played in a while Cutalong is not the same examination as the first two venues. The par threes are a proper collection. Four of them, and some of the hardest I have played in a long time. Everything is a four, five or six iron and above. The one short one was 160 or 170 uphill, so a seven or eight. The par fives are not driver wedge or driver nine iron either. It is driver three wood, driver hybrid, driver driver. Tricky greens on top of all that. The first two venues were easier, and that is not a knock on them. You get firm, fast fairways and perfect greens, which are ideal scoring conditions. This one is a more unique golf course.  Cutalong. It looks gentle from here. It is not. |
Softer than they would have liked, and an owner you might recognise Rain got to it, and the greens were the best part. This one played a bit softer. They had a lot of rain, so the greens were not as firm as I am sure they would have liked. Quality-wise though, they were superior. Pure bentgrass. And here is the bit some of you will spot. The same people own Cutalong and Black Desert. If you watched the PGA Tour event there, or the Skins Game with Bob and Grant, you will see it. Big greens, big ballpark. It is a fun golf course, and I think it is going to produce great drama, great moments and good golf. |
